Characteristics

It has another name as Dong quai. Fresh roots look plump and cylindrical. It splits into many branch roots. The roots are divided into 3 parts, namely top root, main root and lateral root. The dried roots are in a cylindrical shape. Angelica Sinensis in Thai pharmacopeia refers to the lateral root part. The dried branch roots are faded grayish brown. It has a long line with stranded marks in circles. The branch roots are about 1.5 cm in diameter and 10 cm in length. The upper part is thick, and the lower part is taper.

Properties

• Dong quai or Angelica Sinensis contains the properties of relieving headache, dizziness, ringing in the ear, palpitating heart, insomnia, forgetfulness, cold numbness on hands and feet.
